The USDF Region 7 North American Junior and Young Rider Team

Every year, youth riders age 14-21 throughout the North American continent, give everything they have for one goal. One dream to compete with the best of the best in their chosen sport.

The North American Junior and Young Rider Championships is the most pretigious competition for youth riders on the North American continent. A team as well as an individual event, the NAJYRC creates a unique high performance atmosphere that fosters collaboration, organization, and a mental toughness that young people will rarely find elsewhere. The NAJYRC helps riders improve but it more importantly creates stronger individuals for lives within the equine community and beyond.

The United States Dressage Federation has split the country into 9 regions. Region 7 represents California, Nevada, and Hawaii. Based on performance at qualifying competitions, riders are selected to represent their Region on teams of 3 or 4 at the Junior (3rd/4th level) or the Young Rider (Prix St. Georges) level. Overall, a region can send one Junior team (4 riders) and one Young Rider team (4 riders) to the NAJYRC.

With a history of gold, you would think Region 7's legacy would be to win but this is simply not the case. While we strive to be the best we can be our legacy is our resounding team spirit. Dressage is a team sport. We rely on our parents, coaches, family, friends and our horses. At the NAJYRC, we get to rely on each other.

Our Mission

The USDF Region 7 NAJYRC team is committed to fostering sportsmanship, team spirit, and lifelong learning in the pursuit of preparing youth riders to compete at the highest stage of competition in the sport of Dressage.

Our role is to provide USDF Region 7 youth riders the tools, information, and a place to gain the skills they need to achieve their goals. Whether that may to boost college applications or to one day become a member of the US Dressage Team.
